Tamara de Lempicka

Each one of our limited edition art prints from the Tamara de Lempicka collection is signed by Victoria de Lempicka, the artist’s granddaughter who founded the Tamara Art Heritage which later became part of the Tamara de Lempicka Estate LLC.

Being signed by a direct family heir and co-owner of the official artist estate gives each print provenance and adds to the value of this collection of Tamara de Lempicka’s artwork.

Tamara de Lempicka was a Polish artist actively involved with the 1920’s Bohemian Paris scene and was later referred to as the ‘Favourite Artist of the Hollywood Stars’. A female pioneer of the Art Deco movement and renowned portrait painter who captured her subjects; members of high society, in a trendsetting manner that earned her both notoriety and critical acclaim.

Tamara de Lempicka worked in an Art Deco style. Lempicka’s artistic process of portrait painting incorporated her passion and love for the old Italian masters, her appreciation for the Cubists and the way they deconstructed form and the theatrical lighting and compositions of the advertisements of that era. She captured her subjects with smooth, incandescent skin, light and luminous drapery, and provocative gazes.

Her work drew inspiration from her early introduction to the works of the Renaissance masters and was later influenced by her mentors; the Nabis painter Maurice Denis, and the Cubist artist André Lhote.
