Zeno Fine Art proudly present Stuart McAlpine Miller’s latest series - Revelations: A Portrait Of Magic is made up of 11 limited-edition prints that will be available only for a limited time once they’re released on April 14th 2022.
This captivating collection of artworks gives us a darker, fine art interpretation on the Wizarding World of Harry Potter; the result of 6 years in the making by contemporary artist Stuart McAlpine Miller.
The Collection
Revelations: A Portrait Of Magic brings us an exploration of the Wizarding World in an exciting new way that delivers a spellbinding narrative, digging deeper into some of the darker themes of the Harry Potter narrative.
For this collection, the artist has scrutinised and analysed the personalities of some of the iconic characters from the story, determined to portray the light and dark aspects of each character's personality, weighing the good against the evil.
Each painting has been created in the unique, signature abstracted style of Stuart McAlpine Miller; his eye-catching colour palettes and masterful portraiture harmonise with the layered imagery to produce a compelling twist on the traditional narrative.
The artist’s ambition for this series was to create a collection of artworks that would resonate with adults that had grown up reading the Harry Potter books and watching the movies.
- Stuart McAlpine Miller“Human behaviours change as we learn to adapt to new situations and we often take on a different persona by way of a coping mechanism. Revelations draws a parallel in a sense with this ethos by focusing on each of the main personalities of the Harry Potter characters drawing out their two sides, both good versus evil is represented with the more complex layers of their characters suggested on canvas.
Each one is a portrait of the Harry Potter collective featuring a prominent character, if you look closely behind the characters, the body of Harry Potter is reflected in the layers.”

A Complex Nature
In this artwork, we see Harry Potter’s eye deliberately framed to centre the gaze of the viewer. Shining forth from the character’s eyes is omniscience that belies his age.
The layered imagery that is made up of the Hogwarts Express, the Phoenix and the sign for Platform 9 ¾ add a transportive element to the artwork. There is also an evocative religious theme running throughout the collection that is felt from this piece by the suggested arch of a Gothic stained glass window, framing the character.
Strength In Numbers
This piece depicts the three of the Wizarding World’s main characters painted into a kaleidoscopic labyrinth of light and colour, the repetitive triangular forms reinforcing their resolute arrangement as a trio and emphasising the power of three, which is particularly reinforced by the geometry present in the background.
The Hand Of Wisdom
In a scene dominated by darkness with the occasional glimmer of light, we see Professor Albus Dumbledore engulfed in a crowded world of memories.
The implied pathways represent a convergence of past and present, a theme central to the relationship between Harry Potter and Professor Dumbledore; whilst the true story of his life is evident from his powerful gaze and confident body language.
The Artist
Stuart McAlpine Miller is a contemporary artist with multiple successful exhibitions to his name and a track record of exhibiting his work at prestigious galleries all over the world, some of the major cities that he has exhibited his work in are London, Hong Kong and New York.
Stuart was exhibiting internationally with both solo and group shows within a year of graduating with a BA (Hons) from Glasgow School of Art.
Before long, he was working with a number of big brands including the BBC and Virgin. He has also received numerous commissions from notable patrons, one of which was Sir Paul McCartney; commissioning Stuart to paint the piano that he used throughout his 2004 European tour.
Stuart McAlpine Miller has also released a number of successful collections throughout his career, including ‘A Time For Reflection: The Savoy Suite’ which he was commissioned to paint during his time as artist-in-residence at The Savoy Hotel in London.
In a very poetic manner, Stuart McAlpine Miller painted the artworks for his latest series Revelations: A Portrait Of Magic; in his current art studio which is located in the renovated attic of his home; a charming historic riverside castle in Callander, Scotland.
